The Fox Inn

Famous for Fish

Seafood has been gaining a lot of publicity recently. We are hearing an increasing amount on the health benefits of Fish. Omega 3 essential fatty acids, low fat, high in zinc, iron and calcium and for helping reducing the risk of diseases such as cancer and heart disease. Increasingly however we are also hearing more about the need for Fish to be sourced sustainably. It is no surprises then that consumers are demanding more from their fish suppliers and specialist Fish restaurants.

The Fox Inn, "Famous for Fish !" in Rudgwick on the Sussex / Surrey border is such a restaurant which continuously strives to exceed its customers expectations for the freshest, tastiest seafood, sourced sustainably where possible but never compromising on quality.

Landlords Simon and Erika Godsland's concept for a specialist fish restaurant was developed from their own love of Seafood and Simons extensive knowledge of producing exceptional fish dishes from his experience as a Chef.

"Over the years, I have seen our customers taste and knowledge for seafood develop and change, therefore our philosophy is the same. Our menu often changes to reflect seasonal and stock availabilities and most importantly, to satisfy our customers desires for fresh new taste experiences."

Passionate about seafood, produce is delivered to the Fox Inn daily to ensure quality and freshness. Where possible all ingredients are sourced from sustainable UK and International fisheries including fresh King Scallops from the Orkneys, delicious Rock Oysters from The Cuan Oyster Farm in Northern Ireland and south coast Crabs and Lobsters.

The selection does not stop there. The extensive menu also includes Whole Lobster and Prawn Thermidor, Seared Cajun Salmon served with Caesar Salad, whole Brown Crab "ready to dress" with hammer and crackers, Mussels served deliciously spicy with fresh chillis or cooked garlic, white wine and cream.

There is whole Torbay Sole with lemon and lime butter, Crab and Salmon Fishcakes, Seared Tuna Loin on Nicoise salad with coriander cream, smoked haddock with creamy cheese, delicious Cod or Skate in Badger Beer batter to mention just a few - but the ultimate indulgence must be The Fruits de Mer Platter, great for sharing which includes Whole Lobster, Crab, King Prawns, Mussells, Oysters and Shell On Prawns. For those after something non-fishy The Fox also offers a great selection of meat and vegetarian dishes plus an extensive bar and snack menu.

Indulge your passion for the freshest, most exciting seafood all within 15 minutes of Guildford. The Fox is open 7 days a week and serves food all day every day and boasts a relaxed dining environment whether in the restaurant, on the beautiful garden patio or in the newly extended lounge bar.
